Holiday Wishes

Published: December 18, 2020

It’s that time of year again when we are magically transformed to a place of wonder where peace on earth and good will toward men reigns in our words, songs and deeds. A time when all is right with the world and we pause to be reminded of the enduring hope, faith and charity that our respective spiritual beliefs’ promise. It’s the ideal world that we all long for and yet all too often, somehow manages to elude us throughout the rest of the year. This has never been more apparent than in our lived-experiences of 2020, a year filled with disasters, fear, anxiety and discord. It washed over us like an unwelcome tsunami.

Blessedly, the waters have started to recede and with them cleansed away some of the angst that we have had to endure. The promise of a new administration, a vaccination that will help wipe out this pandemic and a fresh, new year that will bring us closer to realizing the simple pleasures of visiting and embracing our family and friends. It seems almost fitting that we should enter into this holiday season at this time for it gives us an opportunity to be still and be reminded of all that our faith’s promise. It’s a time for healing and reflection.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could sustain all of the promise of the  holiday season throughout the coming year(s)? Why can’t this be our heartfelt goal for 2021 and beyond? A “new normal” if you would! Let us:

Provide comfort and support to those families who have experienced       the ultimate sacrifice from this pandemic and are still struggling to           recover. (Click here for grief support resources).

Strive to listen with an open heart and seek to understand instead of         being understood when differences arise;

Do small things with much love not only for neighbors, friends and           loved ones, but also for the stranger(s) that we encounter in our day to     day;

Give of our time and talent to support the greater good for                               women/mankind and the planet.

Lift up our eyes from our phones and reveal the smile behind that               mask until the day when our beautiful smiles can be revealed once           again.

Yes we can!

The J.F. Goode Funeral Home family would like to thank all the families who entrusted their loved ones’ transition with us this past year and appreciate your ongoing support. It is our sincerest wish that you have a peaceful holiday season and everything bright in the New Year…
