William Edgar Smith Jr.
William Edgar Smith, Jr. was born on May 22, 1951 in Amityville, New York from the union of the late William Edgar Smith, Sr. (Tick) and Doris E. Smith (Dotty). He was the first of six children (Kevin, Steven, Terry, Stacy and Timothy) and joined his father and brother Kevin who passed before him. He departed this life on September 18, 2017 at Southside Hospital due to a tragic accident.
William better known to everyone as "Smitty" or "Dolla Bill" attended Copiague Public Schools. After school he worked various jobs. If you needed anything fixed you could call on him.
In the early 70's he relocated to Georgia to join his brothers Kevin and Steven where he was blessed with his eldest daughter Krystal.
Bill returned to New York and shortly after relocated to California where he rejoined Kevin and Steven. He was employed at different places including Universal Studios, a warehouse as a security guard and the Super where he lived. Youngest brother Tim also moved to California to be with his older brothers. Tim had many adventures with his brothers, especially with Bill. While in California Bill was blessed with his youngest daughter Breanna.
Bill returned to New York after many years in California where he was reunited with his family and newly born grandchildren Omar, Jr. Jada, and Asia.
Everywhere Bill went they knew who he was. No one ever had a negative word to say about him. Bill loved his family and couldn't wait to tell you about his daughters or his grandkids.
Bill was known for his many electronics; TVs, cellphones or anything he could get his hands on. The neighborhood often called on him as their personal handyman. If you knew him you could catch him on his bicycle at the local store or visiting his family and friends.
In his later years he would love to make his "rounds" of phone calls. he would make weekly calls to his mother "Dotty" checking in. He would also call his granddaughter Sa'Nai, his granddaughters Jada and Asia and his daughters as well as grandson and other family and friends. He looked forward to the family events and time he spent with them all.
Bill was known as a giving person and even in death, his giving continues. Bill gave the gift of life through organ donation and research to help with so many other lives.
Bill leaves to mourn his passing not only immediate family but a host of family and friends including his two daughters, his mother, two brothers and two sisters. His grandchildren, brothers-In-Laws, Sister-In-Laws as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and his special friends to last a lifetime.
