Ulas Byrd, 83 of Wyandanch, NY, went to be with the Lord on Jun e 21, 2019.
Ulas was born in Bessemer, North Carolina to Fletcher and Gussie Byrd on September 28, 1935. Ulas married Annie Margret June 5th, they have been married for 54 yrs; they lived in Amityville and moved to Wyandanch, NY. Ulas attended school during the great depression in Gastonia, North Carolina.
Although ulas had a limited education he had numerous successful careers in his life, he was employed as a Farmer, a chef, and he made a living as a Boxer and he would often state, “my hand are licensed”, he was an innovated mechanic who worked on diesel engines, auto engines and boat engines. During the late 70’s he went back into business for himself and became an entrepreneur owning his own Trucking and Landscaping Businesses. Ulas had many hobbies that he immensely enjoyed: he was a successful Racecar owner of a Mint Green 55 Chevy with a hemi engine. He competed in countless races and won many trophies. Ulas enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cooking. Ulas was a excellent chef and even taught his wife how to cook.
Ulas accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and he loved the Lord. Ulas was acquainted with many challenges in life. He was outgoing, positive, courageous, fearless and brave. With every challenge he faced he always had a smile and loved to laugh. Ulas did not allow the challenges to consume him or take him out. Ulas was focused and determined to live life and he enjoyed his family. Ulas was a great man with great resilience. Ulas was a proud father who spent time teaching his children how to be responsible and independent. Ulas led by example and instilled in his children a good work ethic. He was kind, compassionate, giving, happy, good-humored and a loving husband and father. Ulas leaves a legacy of hope, courage, tenacity, and Faith in God.
