Terry Perry Obituary

The beloved Terry Regina Bizzle Perry was born on July 6, 1955, in East Meadow, New York, to the late Mary and Dickie Bizzle. She was the first child born to their union and was lovingly raised in Wyandanch, New York.

Terry attended Wyandanch schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating in 1973. A gifted musician and lover of the arts, she played the flute and bells in the Wyandanch Marching Band, where she later became drum major. Terry also made history as the first female in her high school years to become a member of the all-boys jazz band.

Her love for dance was evident throughout her life. Terry was an original dancer of the Venettes Cultural Workshop under the direction of Mary Baird. She also enjoyed playing softball on the community team led by the late Horace Jones.

After graduating high school, Terry continued her education at Grambling State University, where she pursued music studies. While there, she met Barney Joe Perry, and the two were united in marriage on July 15, 1978. Her husband preceded her in death on February 22, 1990.

Terry dedicated her professional life to education and service. She began working at the Wyandanch School District with Pre-K students, and later became a Special Education Teacher. Her passion for children, community service, and culture touched countless lives.

Known for her love of dance, Terry founded “Dance Unlimited Dancers” at the WCOC Youth Community Center, where she devoted countless hours mentoring and inspiring young people through dance and creativity.

Terry had a love for Doberman Pinschers.  She also cherished working with children, who affectionately knew her as “Mrs. Perry.” She was a gifted seamstress who lovingly made prom, special occasion and wedding dresses for family and friends. Above all, she was a true disciple of the Lord who faithfully shared the hope and love of Jesus Christ everywhere she went.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her sisters, Claudia, Frederica, and Bessie Bizzle; her brother, Dickie Bizzle, Jr.; her goddaughter, Patrice Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, family members, friends, former students, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing her.
