On Wednesday, September 6th, 2023, Saundra, affectionately known as Sandy or Bai, peacefully transitioned from the here and now into eternity to be with our Heavenly Father, at her residence in Amityville, NY.
Born on July 15, 1963 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the second of three daughters born to the late Jimmie L. Clarke and the late Hazel W. Clarke. The family initially lived in Brooklyn, New York and then moved to Rochdale Village in Jamaica, Queens and later to Farmingdale, Long Island. Saundra was educated in the public school system of New York, graduating from Forest Hills High School in 1980. She continued her education, enrolling at Hunter College of the City University of New York, where she majored in communications. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hunter College in May 1987.
Due to lack of opportunities in the field of communications, Saundra decided to pursue employment elsewhere. She worked for a while in medical billing, then at First Card (a credit card company) from approximately 1991 until 2003 and also Walmart. Saundra most recently worked for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, since December 2003, as an Account Service Coordinator for some of the company’s most high profile clients. This December would have been her 20th year with the company.
On September 19, 1992, God blessed Saundra with a precious baby girl whom she named Joye Ashley Campbell. Sadly, Joye passed away on May 3, 2017, at the age of 24 leaving behind a 3 year old son, Keith (KJ). Saundra became his legal guardian immediately thereafter; she and KJ developed a very close bond that he will cherish for the rest of his life.
Saundra led a very simple life, she was not extravagant in any way. She was a very quiet person. She enjoyed reading books written by Joyce Meyers and she enjoyed listening to gospel music. Saundra possessed a great work ethic and was dedicated to her job. She enjoyed listening to live broadcasts of individuals she followed on Instagram in addition to keeping in touch with various people she met along her life’s journey. Most of all Bai loved spending time with KJ and ensuring he was cared for.
Saundra was preceded in death by her parents Hazel Wade Clarke (2005), Jimmie Lee Clarke (2018) and her only child Joye Ashley Campbell (2017).
Saundra leaves to cherish her memories her grandson Keith (KJ) Frost Jr. of the home, sisters: Penelope Lowe of Amityville N.Y., and Kimberly Clarke of the home, nephew: Tyler Lowe of Amityville, N.Y., uncles: Freddie Perdue (Alfreda) of Charlotte, N.C., Larry Bell Sr. (Maezell) of Winnsboro, S.C., and a host of cousins, other relatives and lots of friends.
We will forever cherish our memories of Sandy and our time spent together.
