Obituary
Robert Earl Sizemore, Sr. was born in Fayette, Alabama to Gurley Sizemore and Lizzie Williams on May 19, 1948. He was the second child of seven children. Robert was a graduate of Fayette County High School. He enlisted in the army in September 1968 and served one year of combat in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in September 1970.
In 1971, shortly after his return from the army, his cousin introduced him to Cynthia Wingfield. Robert and Cynthia were married in January of 1973 and Robert helped to raise his stepdaughter, Crystal. From their union Crystal became the big sister of two brothers; Robert Jr. and Christopher.
Robert worked on the janitorial staff for Tides Nursing home in Long Beach, New York. He held this position for 25 years and retired in 2007. Robert had a great love for fishing and sports. He coached a little league baseball team in Roosevelt, New York. He loved watching Freeport High School football and supported the team with his frequent attendance at their games.
Being a grandfather was one of Robert’s greatest joys. He was passionate about caring for his grandchildren. He enjoyed having their company and showering them with gifts.
Robert will truly be missed.
