Reverend Doris Marrero
Rev. Doris Marrero was born in Oakton, NC, second oldest of her siblings. Her parents were John and Margaret McDow. She transitioned to her eternal home Friday, October 13, 2023 after a courageous battle with chronic illness at Mercy Medical in Rockville Center, NY. She resided in Lindenhurst, NY with her youngest son, John.
Rev. Doris Marrero attended school in New York where her family settled in the boro of Manhattan. She graduated from Washington Irving High School. After graduating she married and became a “homemaker.” Her love for children extended beyond her household which led her to begin a Child Care Service under Little Flower, Inc. She had a very warm personality and despite her medical condition her life was always about helping others and ministering the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Rev. Doris Marrero’s Christian faith was very important to her. She went on to further her Theological studies with Oral Roberts University as well as the College of New Rochelle in New York City. She was Licensed in 1989 and Ordained in 1990 under the former Overseer Dr. Rev. Andy C. Lewter of Hollywood Baptist Church in Amityville. She served as Interim Pastor at First Baptist Church of Farmingdale in Amityville, NY. She also served and assisted in ministry under the former Rev. Dr. Henry Thomas. Rev. Doris Marrero remained faithful in her calling and served at Mt. Olive Baptist Church under Rev. A.G. Chancellor III, Pastor.
She touched many lives, her oldest daughter Spring and oldest son Jesse predeceased her and she leaves to mourn her passing: her daughter April (Maurice) Stone, her son, John; 4 siblings; Gilbert (Staphanie) Robinson, Eunice Thomas, Rev. Theresa (Sherlock) Cooper, Sharyn (Robert) Jackson, 5 grandchildren Jesse, Min. Justin (Janee) Frierson, Sakyra, Syreia and Maurice Stone, 7 great grands; 1 Aunt, nieces, nephews and a host of many relatives and friends.
