Malinda McKellor Obituary

Sis. Malinda Ruth Jackson, affectionately known as “Lynn”, was born on December 15, 1955 to Mary and Sands Jackson in Bay Shore, New York. The Lord welcomed her home with open arms on August 11, 2017. Sis. Lynn was the first born, and as the oldest, she took after her mother being a loving caretaker and was the apple of her father’s eye. She had a heart full of gold. Sis. Lynn graduated from Amityville High School and later pursued the trade of sewing which became one of her many talents. She would go on to sew clothes for many family members and assisted with sewing Church choir robes.

Lynn gave birth to her first son, Glen Jackson, who was her pride and joy. She loved doing outside activities with him. Memorable times Glen shared with his Mom included attending the annual Native American Pow Wows. Lynn met Trevor McKellor and children, Wayne and Monique. She immediately fell in love with them and later married Trevor in 1986. From their union was born, son, Timothy Jerome and daughter, Jessica Maria. Timothy loved and adored his mother and realized as a grown up how much she loved and cared for him and his siblings. She became their star. Timothy and his Mom enjoyed many walks by the water. As a child, Timothy had trouble sleeping so his Mother and Grandmother, the late Evang. Mary Jackson, would “put the fat” on him. Sis. Lynn loved all her children dearly. She did whatever it took to be the best Mom, provider and teacher for them. As children, they were always by her side.

Sis. Lynn gave her life to Christ. On August 13, 1978, she became a member of Ephesus Church Seven Churches of God in Christ, where Bishop Robert L. Williams was her Pastor. Sis.Lynn, when speaking of her Christian experience, would state, “When I decided to put God first I remember being in the house. I had to make a choice either to stay in the house or loose the Lord. That’s when I began to push for the Lord. Now I’m learning to put everything behind and him in front.” Sis. Lynn, was a faithful servant and never played with God or the church. Her children would attend Sunday school and Church with her. She loved her Church family and was a dedicated servant. She became a member of the Pastor’s Aide, Sunday School, Cleaning Committee, Usher Board and the Vice - President of the Repast Committee and served faithfully.

She always attended her home church and when she could no longer attend due to her illness. She would still attend a church on Sundays. Church was always her love and where she found true happiness. She looked forward to attending the church revivals and anniversaries in North Carolina. Sis. Lynn will always be remembered as a loving and caring person. She was unique, humble and whenever you were around her, her smile would light up a room.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to those who continuously kept Sis. Lynn in their prayers. A special thank you to her church buddies, Sis. Joan, Sis. Greta and Sis. Eva and the many caregivers. To Pamela and Latia for never giving up, and all who truly loved her.
