Obituary

Liston A. England, Sr. entered into eternal rest on November 14, 2022 in Deer Park, New York after a brief illness. He was born on November 25, 1940 in St, Thomas, US Virgin Islands to the late David England and Iris Manulita Baptiste. He was the last child of seven siblings.

He received his elementary and high school educations in the St. Thomas schools graduating from Charlotte Amalie High School in 1959. He arrived New York City, borough of the Bronx, later that year seeking to continue his education and a better life. For a brief period he was employed at NYS Kirby Psychiatric Center. While at that facility he met his first wife, Dorothy Adgerson, from which union came their son, Liston A. England, Jr. Dorothy England died in 2009. He met and married his second wife, Constance Y. Yvonne Davis England, in 2012.

Liston moved to the Town of Babylon, Hamlet of Deer Park, in 1974 while working in the Bronx. He continued commuting to the Kirby Center Bronx institution to work where he earned a distinctive reputation for promptness, dependability and responsibility. To improve his commuting time to and from the Bronx, he requested and secured a transfer from the Kirby Center to the Sagamore Children’s Psychiatric Center, Dix Hills, New York. He worked at Sagamore for over thirty years where he continuously earned admirable recognition and promotions to higher ranks and responsibilities. He retired from Sagamore in 2010.

Through his effervescent and engaging personality and willingness to assist everyone to successfully accomplish a task or a project, Liston made everyone a friend and an ally. He loved his beloved St. Thomas Island which he loved to visit during carnival season where could get up early in the morning to go swimming. He was a friend to many and will be missed by all who loved him equally.

Liston leaves behind his beloved wife, Constance Y. England, son, Liston A. England, Jr., sister, Jean George and a host of other loving relatives and cherished friends. He

is preceded in death by his parents David England and Iris Baptist and five of his siblings.
