Lina McMillian Obituary

Lina McMillian was born on October 28,1964 to the late Dannie and Dorothy McMillian in Manhattan, New York. Lina was the middle daughter of the three sisters and one Brother.

Reared in the Bronx, New York until she was 2 years old growing up around Family. 

The family moved to East Massapequa in 1966 where she attended the Amityville Public School system. Later the family relocated to North Amityville, where she attended the Copiague Public School system.

 

In 1969 while attending church with her family she accepted Christ as her Savior and joined the Holy Trinity Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr Rev SE Clayton. Lina sang in the Sunbeam Choir and the Inspirational Youth Emblem and was a Jr Usher. 

 

Lina graduated from Copiague Sr High School in 1982 and continued her education at BMCC in Manhattan.

Lina also was employed by BMCC in the purchasing department where she learned how to negotiate contracts.

She later was employed at Price Coopers Waterhouse and then Morgan Stanley heading up the Purchasing Departments.

 

Lina loved life and her family. 

 

In December of 2010 Lina started caring for her elderly Mother and Aunt Lorene until their deaths.

 

Lina gained her heavenly wings on June 1st, when God saw that she had grown weary and called her home to rest for a job well done.

 

She leaves to mourn her loss, her sisters; Linda McMillian Clayton and Lola McMillian Hale. Her Brother, Cecil Lamont McPherson and her devoted Sister in Love, Shawane McPherson. 

 

Her four Godchildren, Taniquewa, Jewel Monts-Bearden, Teaira Wilson, Kirk Ricketts Jr. Ayana Gilpin, Brandon Gilpin and Andrew Thompson Jr. Two grand God children, Ayha Wilson and Bella Bearden.

 

Her one pride and joy nephew Jared Monts Jr. Her six adored pride and joy nieces, Jackie Singleton (Jeffrey), Chafera McMillian, Briana Clayton, Davonna Gilpin, Ryann McPherson and Sydney McPherson. One Aunt , Willie Queen Pretty (Thomas). Two devoted cousin/sisters, Margie Roberson and Regina Jones.

Six great nieces and five great nephews. 

Special Friends, Jeanette Wilson, Ann Thomas, Deon Leftenette, Kirk Ricketts and Cielo as well as a host of cousins and friends.

 

Don’t cry for me, God had been good to me.
