Katherine Ellison was born in North Carolina to the proud parents of Bowden Hayes and Essie Hayes, on October 31st 1944. She was the 4th child out of four children. Katherine Ellison attended School in North Carolina and she moved to New York around 1960-1965, settling in Suffolk County, New York. She worked at Brunswick Hospital and Copiague Hospital as a nurse and she retired in 2006.
She has always been a full-time wife, grandmother, and also a mother to many. Katherine worshiped at Faith Tabernacle with Pastor Irene Thompson. She always volunteered her service to help out those that were in need. She played the piano for many churches and events, one of her favorite songs was I’ve Been Running for Jesus A Long Time, and I’m Not Tired Yet.
She is and will always be a mother of six children of her own; Lovell Martin, Howard Berry Martin, Gloria Martin, Kenneth Martin, Emma Martin, and Jennifer Hayes. She has over 25 grandchildren and great grandchildren and is an auntie of many nieces and nephews which she dearly loves so much.
She was a very strong woman with a very strong spiritual background, a woman of true legacy full of love and was always encouraging. She will be greatly missed and her light will always shine bright like a diamond. She impacted us all with her love and we will always and forever carry her in our hearts.
