Jeffery Nimmons Obituary

Today we are here to honor the life of Jeffery Nimmons, who was called home to the Lord on June 19, 2022. Jeffery was born to the late Cardwell and Alwilla Nimmons on March 23, 1965, in Elmhurst, New York. He was the youngest of his three brothers, Alonzo, Tyrone, and Timothy Nimmons, who he looked up to for guidance.

Jeffery attended P.S 136, JHS 192, and Andrew Jackson High School in Queens, New York. After graduation, he worked as a helper in his uncle’s mechanic shop before moving on to La Guardia Airport, where he fueled planes. Jeff utilized his mechanic experience in many things he did after his time at the shop. In 1988, Jeff began his career as a bus operator with the NYC Mass Transit Authority. He worked with transit for 34 years, as he recently retired this past April.

Later, Jeff met the love of his life, Kim Jefferys, on a blind date. A few years later, they proceeded to marry on September 6, 1997. September of this year would have made 25 years of their beautiful marriage. Jeff loved his wife so very dearly. Their only child Jelise Aiyana Nimmons came three years after the marriage union.

On April 3, 2000, Jeff became the definition of a “girl dad.” He loved his daughter tremendously, and he did any and everything to protect her and be the best dad he could be. From picking up and dropping off to dance, school, sweet 16s, you name it. Not only was he a great dad to her, but he was also good to her friends. Jeff always ensured his daughter and her friends had everything they needed while in his keep.

Jeff was a good brother and family man. He had a huge heart and cared immensely for others, especially those close to him. Jeff was an amiable person and loved to talk. He would speak to anyone who came into contact with him in a good way. Jeff loved cooking, dancing, exploring, listening to music, watching TV, and being with family. He told lots of jokes and gave excellent advice. Jeff was always one to make you laugh and give you a life lesson shortly after. Everyone will miss him.

Memories of Jeff will be cherished forever by his loving wife, Kim T. Nimmons; beloved daughter Jelise A. Nimmons; three brothers, Alonzo Nimmons (Krisandra Nimmons), Tyrone Nimmons (Tina Nimmons), and Timothy Nimmons; three Aunts Mary Cruse (Bobby Cruse), Mayme Lee, and Ellaree Lee; brother-in-law Kip Jefferys (Nicole Jefferys); four nieces, seven nephews, two grand-nieces, four grand-nephews; one great-grandniece and a host of relatives and friends.
