Obituary
James Perry Davis Jr., affectionately known as “Bunky” was born on October 12,1959 in Southampton, New York to the late James Perry Sr. and Elizabeth “Libby” Davis. He was one of four children born from this union. He was raised on the Shinnecock Indian Reservation.
He graduated from Southampton High School in 1979. During his high school years and beyond Bunky could be found caddying at the Shinnecock Hills Golf Course. After long hours on the course he would enjoy hanging out with friends in his red Volkswagon Beetle. His love of cars and speed was evident as he cruised around in his Z28, his 69 Riviera and his Chevelle. He would often enter a room and make himself comfortable and then request that the channel be changed to the Nascar Race. He would ask if you watched the races and even if the answer was no you were destined to watch it if Bunky was in the room. Shortly, the conversation would change to mostly include the #48 of Jimmy Johnson. He worked a period of time at Mayo Motors in Southampton as well as driving a cement truck after proudly obtaining his CDL license. He also worked at the Shinnecock Oyster Project and then crossed the waters to work at the Foxwood Resort Casinos in Connecticut as a security guard for many years. He took great pride in that position. After the position ended he returned home to the waters at Shinnecock to harvest oysters.
He will be greatly missed
