James Paul Palmer
June 10, 1975-September 23, 2017
In Remembrance
James Paul Palmer, Jr. was born to James Sr. and Sharon Palmer on June 10, 1975 at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, N.Y..
James was an only child until the age of 16. He would become a big brother to Dayshawn, then Maliek, and finally Shakira. He was a loving brother and adored them even to the point of taking them on errands. The loss of their father was devastating to James. They were very close and he took the role of surrogate father very seriously.
James attended school and graduated from Wyandanch Memorial High School in 2993. He was known for his humor and kind nature. He had a special band of brothers that he shared a great friendship with throughout his life. His loyalty went beyond the classroom, the football field and everyday life.
James held various jobs since entering the work force at 13 years of age. He held employment doing work with the mentally challenged community. He was previously employed with the Long Island Development Center and Family Residence Essential Enterprise. After he and his wife Tai Christmas relocated to Ohio he was employed at Enterprise and Budget rental companies.
James was a devoted father to Alasia, James III, Ariania, Jahmel and Chakiya. He enjoyed his children immensely. They were often the reason for his strong fight and endurance. That same spirit that we know will continue as we look at the strength of his children today.
The health of James declined greatly in the last couple of years. Despite his physical state he stayed encouraged in his faith in God and positive demeanor. He would make light of his condition and remained hopeful until his passing on September 23, 2017 in Brunswick, Georgia.
James leaves behind his mother, wife, his five children and his siblings. He will be deeply missed by aunts, uncles, cousins and a great host of friends. Even in our sadness we know he is now free and resting.
