Irving Eugene Watts Christian was born October 26, 1959 to Helena Virginia Christian Ellis and the late Richard Billy Watts. Irving was the only child they had together. Irving was born in Bayshore, NY where he was raised by his mother (Helena Christian Ellis) and his late step-father (Cleveland Ellis) in Bay Shore, where he attended the Bay Shore School District.
Irving started work as a town babysitter in the early 70’s. He got his first job in the early 80’s as a sanitation worker in Ronkonkoma, NY with his late brother- in –law Robert Brewster. In the 90’s he worked at A&M Manufacturing with his long time best friend Mary Jo Player. In 2000 Irving joined the New Gethsemane Baptist Church in Middle Island, NY where he got baptized.
Irving and his brother Billy Smith had their own landscaping business, which Irving truly enjoyed. He also worked at the New Image Gymnastics as a custodian in Deer Park, up until the time he got sick. Here is where he met his boss, Carlos aka Figit and his wife Robin, and they all became very good friends.
Irving aka Swerve was the life of any party that he went to. He loved to make people laugh, he loved to sing & dance as well as play cards, spades was his game. To know Irving (Swerve) is to love him. Swerve loved to wear his hats, black shades with his Newport cigarettes and his 40oz. St. Ides Beer.
Irving leaves to mourn his mother Helena, his 5 brothers, 2 sisters, 1 son, 1 daughter, 8 nephews, 2 nieces, 1 bother- in –law, 1 sister- in- law, 2 nieces- in- law, hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, great nephew and a host of family, as well as many friends.
