Gladys P. Jackson

Gladys Patricia Jackson, who was most often called Patricia by her family members, was born on January 16, 1945, to the late Albert H. Jackson, Sr. and the late Isabell Bell Jackson. Patricia's mother died shortly after her birth, and Patricia was raised by her Aunt Amanda Lou Jackson Herron and Uncle Hezekiah Herron in Edgewood, Long Island, New York. Patrica was brought up in a home where God was the "Center of her joy," and she stayed true to her faith from a very young and tender age to the time of her passing. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, she was Chaplain of the Pastor's Aide Group and a member of the Prayer and Bible Study Group. To demonstrate how well she was anchored in her faith, she also joined the prayer group at Walden Pond, which included eleven members.

Patricia graduated from Brentwood High School in Brentwood, New York in June of 1962. Subsequent to her graduating from high school, she attended Suffolk Community College in Selden, New York, and C.W. Post College of Long Island University in Hauppauge, New York. In addition to her academic pursuits, she obtained certificates as School Bus Driver; Hazardous Material Transporter; Wheelchair and Occupant Restraint System Assistant; and License Cosmetologist.

Patricia began working for Development Disabilities Institute in 2014 and continued working there until the time of her death. Prior to her starting at DDI, she worked as a Supervisor of Parts for American Airlines from which she retired after 28 years. She was resourceful and worked as a licensed cosmetologist for a number of years.

She was even-tempered and highly motivated. She enjoyed traveling, reading in general and reading the Holy Bible, trying different recipes, having a good meal, playing the organ, gardening, and discussing topical issues.

On Monday, August 21, 2017, Gladys Patricia Jackson departed this life at her home in East Moriches, New York.
