Obituary
Edward Everett Portier was born in Harlem New York to the late parents of Cleo Portier and Ida Christy on October 16, 1937 at Harlem Hospital.
“Fast Ed” as he was affectionately known, was educated in the Harlem School System. He obtained his GED and worked as a truck driver for many years. He loved music. He sang and played the congas for a band in the Bronx. Some would say he was one of the best Latin American dancers of his time. He met Mary “Pat” Garner and they were married November, 1979. He worked for the Town of Babylon School System until he retired.
He accepted the Lord as his personal savior several years ago and became a member of The New Hope Baptist Church in Amityville New York.
He is preceded in death by his late brother Robert and late so George. He leaves to mourn his wife Mary; five children; four grandchildren; two siblings; seven great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, in-laws, a large extended family and a host of friends.
