After practicing medicine for years as an instructor of nursing, she then went on to Brooklyn Collage where she met and married Joseph Duncan in 1965 and from this union came two sons, Keith and Kenneth Duncan. Doris was a devoted mother and a loving wife, a professional nurse and a caring caretaker. She loved to cook, watch television, and read. She taught everyone and anyone, her love of education was exemplified by the books that she kept in her library. She later went on to Hofstra University, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Education. She taught in the New York City school system for the next 22 years.
She loved to travel, making trips to the Caribbean, Canada, Africa and Europe. When she was not taking a plane, she would walk miles with her two sons beside her. She spent her remaining years in Arizona, at the home of her son Keith, in warmth and comfort, surrounded by her grandchildren.
She leaves to mourn her two sons, five grandchildren, a brother, a sister, many nieces, nephews, cousins relatives, and a host of friends
