Diane Legette Bledman
Diane Legette Bledman was born on July 26, 1957 in Copiague, NY to the late William C. Legette and Mary Ella Legette (one of 12 children).
Early on as a child she was raised as a member of St. John’s Baptist Church. The family later transferred to Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Amityville, NY where she remained a member throughout her entire adult life. Diane received her education through the Amityville Public School system and graduated from Amityville Memorial High School. She was employed by the State of New York at L.I.D.D.S.O. and retired after 32 years of service. During her early years of work she met her husband Cecil Bledman. They married in January of 1990 and remained happily married for 27 years until her passing.
Diane was popular to say the least. She loved cooking, socializing and entertaining (especially during Labor Day). She was the life of the party no matter where she went and people were naturally attracted to her once they got to know her. Friends and family often came to her for advice and she was glad to give it. She was affectionately known as “Aunt Ma” to her many nieces and nephews and had a special bond with each one of them. Diane had made a lasting impression on so many people during her time here on this Earth that will be forever cherished.
Diane was preceded in death by her brothers James Woodbury, Leverne Legette, Jimmie Legette, Ronald Legette, David Legette and sister Maybelle Woodbury.
Diane Leaves to cherish her memory, Husband, three children, two grandchildren, Three Brothers, Two sisters, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be missed dearly.
