Obituary
De'Andrae Nigel Spriggs
"Kwame"
De'Andrae Nigel Spriggs, born July 10, 1993, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the age of 24. More recently, going by the name Kwame, he was able to defy the odds of living with sickle cell anemia and thrive in ways that were unimaginable to some.
While studying at North Carolina A&T State University, Kwame was not only a student, but an athlete, activist and businessman. He founded Village Strength, where he became a sports performance coach, while promoting a lifetime passion for fitness and athletics through apparel and personal training. In a short time, Kwame became a remarkable athlete in weight lifting. The next goal was the American Open, with his sights set on qualifying for the Olympics. Kwame was also a vocal advocate for the black community, especially black women, and tirelessly promoted black-owned business.
Kwame's legacy will live on through his mother, his father, seven siblings, his grandparents, great grandfather, grand aunts, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and all those inspired by his loving spirit.
Kwame will be forever be in our hearts.
