David Stennett was born on December 1, 1939 in New York City, New York to the late Charlton and Rosetta Stennett. David was educated in the New York City education system. He was the fourth of five children. David loved and was very close to his siblings and especially close to his mother. David gave his life to Christ and was filled with the Holy Ghost as a teenager. David worshipped and served as a Junior Deacon at the Refuge Church of Christ at 99th Street in New York City. David was a warm and handsome young man who was loved by everyone. His warm smile and gregarious personality made him an outstanding individual and loved by everyone.
In 1959, he was elected to be the New York State President of Armour Bearers Young Peoples Unit (ABYPU) in the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ Organization. David was always serious about his relationship with God. After his tenure as the New York State President, David enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged.
David was married to Genevieve Lewis on February 6, 1966. To that union was born one child, a daughter, Kelley who he loved dearly. David relocated to Orlando, Florida where he worked at Disney World as an air conditioning and refrigeration specialist until he retired. In 2015, David returned to New York to address his health issues. He was admitted to the East Neck Nursing Facility in Babylon, New York where he maintained until his passing.
David leaves to mourn, his daughter, Kelley Stennett-Padmore (Donald Padmore); Two grandchildren, David and Grace; his sister, Rev. Dr. Phyllis E. Carter (Bishop Ronald H. Carter); his ex-wife, Genevieve Stennett; two stepdaughters, Sharon Brown- Friday (Tony) and Wanda Brown- Carr (Robert); and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
David fought a good fight and has gone on to glory to get his reward. Sleep on David, we will see you on the other side.
