Obituary
Ciara H. Young affectionately known as “CC” was born to Jocelyn Young and Anthony Shelton on February 13, 1990 in Queens, New York. Ciara was gifted to her foster mother, Teresa Cockrell and raised in Amityville, New York. Ciara attended Copiague Elementary Schools and graduated from Brennan High School. Shortly after, Ciara attended Nassau Community College, where she studied Nursing.
As a young person, Ciara loved singing in the Children’s Choir at the Bread of Life World Outreach Center. Ciara received Jesus as Lord and Savior at a young age. I would often hear Ciara making up her own worship songs to the Lord while drifting off to sleep.
Ciara was a certified Nursing Assistant; she worked in a variety of job roles in nursing. Ciara loved working with the elderly most of all. She would come home laughing with all the stories and goings on at the nursing home. Ciara worked at the Berkshire Nursing Home, St. Mary’s, and the Dietary Department at the Dominican Village.
Ciara loved to draw and paint. She also enjoyed creating hairstyles; she once thought about starting her own hair styling and make-up business.
Ciara was a single mother raising her three children to the best of her ability. Ciara loved her children more than anything and always wanted the best for them. She often gathered the children together in the car heading for a special occasion at a family and friends gathering.
Ciara’s favorite color was red, and her favorite flower was a Rose. She loved “valentine’s Day”, her birthday celebrations would be covered with hearts and roses themed after Valentine’s Day. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, it meant family gathering, and great food. No matter where Ciara found herself on Thanksgiving. She had to make a special trip to Grandma Josephine’s house on Queens to get “coco bread” and all the other Caribbean delights.
In all Ciara struggles in life, she always reached out to the Lord. She attended Freedom Chapel “Teen Challenge” and New Hope Baptist Church to name a few. Ciara’s megawatt smile lit up the room. She will be missed.
Ciara was preceded in death by her daughter Trinity Angel. Ciara leaves to cherish her memory, her three beautiful children (in which she passed down that smile), Shawn, Tre, and Tiani and their father, Terrence; her mother Teresa Cockrell; her parents, Jocelyn and Anthony; her brother David; her sisters Yolanda, Tenisha, Jazmeah and other siblings; Grandmother, Josephine; step father, Preston; and a host of extended family and friends.
