Obituary
Mrs. Carrie James was born March 9, 1935 in Williston, South Carolina to the late Mr. Spann Brown and the late Beatrice Glover Brown. She entered into eternal rest on Sunday November 12, 2017.
She joined Bell Pond Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully. There she was the Mother of the Church and sang on the Gospel Choir.
In the late 1950’s Carrie moved to New York. She was the former First Lady of New Hope Institutional Baptist Church in Amityville, New York and a member of the Deaconess and Missionary Boards. She was employed at the Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre, New York.
On July 21, 1963 she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Reverend Ira James. To this union two children were born. One preceded her in death, Ira Jerome James.
Survivors to cherish her beautiful memory includes: Daughters, Kandee (Tony) James, Barbara Wooten (Abram) both of Clinton, Maryland, Carol Brown (Henry), Burlington, North Carolina, Ruellen King, District Heights, Maryland, Phyllis James, Las Vegas, Nevada; two sisters, Catherine Brown, Dorothy Reid both of Williston, South Carolina; 16 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
