Obituary

Carolyn Bates was born in Hempstead, New York to proud parents Mable and Walter Bates. On August 31,1940 She was the first of two children. 

 

Carolyn attended School in the Amityville School District. Where she went on to graduate from Suffolk Community College. 

Carolyn started working for New York State Parks and Recreation in 1979 where she was a stenographer and worked her way up from grade 9. She became head of Personal. Where she retired from in December of 2022. 

 

During which she met William Robinson, they united in Holy matrimony on September 15, 1964. They went on to have two children Yvonne and Derrik. Also Karen from a previous marriage. They have been married for 58 years. 

 

Carolyn was a homemaker and had a keen sense of style. You could always find her in the newest style. She loved shopping at Lord and Taylor and Fortunoff. One of her many hobbies was quilting. She took classes at the local library. Amongst her love for gardening which she did with her husband. 

 

Carolyn was a member of Shaw Temple A.ME Zion church. A place she called home with both parents helping to build it. She was in the choir and helped out where she could. 

 

She was a devoted wife, mother, sister. grandmother and great grandmother. She will forever remain an eternal source for inspiration. Let us remember her not with sorrow but for the beautiful moments she shared with not only family and friends, but with strangers as well. 

 

Carolyn leaves behind a loving and devoted husband(William). Two children Yvonne and Derrik, preceding her death Karen. Four Grandchildren Sean, Ashley, Tamia, Dionne. Eight Great-grandchildren Nicolette, Angela, Naveah, Jeremiah, Sean Jr,Scarlet, Jovianna and Dominic. And a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
