Obituary
Carlstine Duncan was called home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital, West Islip, N.Y. She was born July 4, 1951 in Boston, Georgia to Mr. Charles & Genevia Carter (As she would say, she entered the world as a BIG BANG!).
Carlstine attended Lindenhurst Elementary School as a child and graduated from Wyandanch Memorial High School in 1968. After high school she attended Farmingdale College. Carlstine worked for the State of New York, Long Island Developmental Center for 20 years as a professional direct care aide. She also worked for the Northport Veterans Medical Center for 10 years as a nursing assistant; she retired in 2009. After retirement, Carlstine completed classes through Little Flower Agency to be a certified care provider. After completion of the certification, she established an at home daycare called “Charity Child Care”.
Carlstine was a woman of great faith and full of love. She received salvation and the Holy Spirit in April 1990. It was then she became an active member of the church. As a child, she grew up in Wyandanch Church of God By Faith. At the church she found joy amongst the saints of God. She loved to praise the lord and will be remembered for her unique praise. She found delight in serving the Lord. She held positions as Vice President of the Missionary Department, Usher, Sunday School Teacher, Noon Prayer Intercessor, Finance Board District Counselor, Trustee on Trustee Board, Deaconess, Mentor (to the young women), Mother of the Church, and Unofficial Greeter of the Church. She spread her love as soon as you walked into the church doors. Everyone would remember her by her warm embrace and tight hugs
Carlstine married her high school sweet heart Victor Vanterpool (1st marriage) through which she had three beautiful children
While delighting herself in the work of the Lord and raising her children as a single mother, she met James R. Duncan and married him in 2001
Carlstine will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, prayer warrior, and friend. She touched the hearts of many and was a true blessing to all that knew her.
Carlstine is preceded in death by her mother, one sister, her brother, first husband, and second husband. Carlstine is survived by her three children, four grandchildren, her father, five sisters, a brother, sisters- in- law; brother- in –law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
