Andrew Williford was born April 1, 1959 in Jamaica, Queens NY to Eugene H. Williford Sr. and Elizabeth Terry Williford. Andrew grew up in Copiague, NY, where he was the youngest son of 8 children. He graduated from Walter G. O'Connell Copiague High School in Copiague, NY in 1977 where he was very active in sports, karate and listening to and loving music.
After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he was eventually elevated to Staff Sergeant. In 1986, he also attended Los Angeles Metropolitan College, where he obtained his first Associate Degree. Shortly thereafter, he received his second Associate Degree at Black Hills State College in South Dakota. Andrew was then honorably discharged and made his way back to NY where he served in the Air Force Reserves and continued his education by obtaining a Bachelors Degree at the State University of New York at Old Westbury. and then his Master's of Science Education Degree at Hofstra University. He worked diligently for the Family and Children's Association as a Vocational Education Coordinator for over 20 years, as well as working alongside other program coordinators simultaneously to help improve the community and transform lives. Throughout the years he was cited in many articles, received countless accolades, acknowledgments and awards, too many to note individually.
Andrew married Patricia Bush-Williford in 1994 in Amityville, NY. From this union, three children were produced, whom he cherished and provided for with pride. Andrew worked very hard on his job, helping to impact the lives of people he encountered by simply reminding them that better is accessible as long as they are willing to do the work. "Mr.Drew", somehow also found time to mentor youth, be an active member of Shaw Temple AME, a master griller, an audience for home talent shows, a musical guru, a history buff, a basketball coach, karate instructor, and a DJ.
Andrew was called home on April 3, 2017 at his residence, and was preceded in death by his mother and father, Eugene and Elizabeth Williford, and youngest sister Joyce "Tammy" Miller.
