Alice Milton Obituary

Alice R. Milton

Alice Ruth Milton was born in Doerun, Georgia on February 10, 1945 to Lillie
Mae and Charlie Martin Sr. She was the youngest of seven children.

Alice attended public school in Doerun and she graduated from Moultrie High
School. At an early age, Alice was taught and learned about Jesus Christ, which
was the beginning of her strong relationship with Christ. After high school she
went on to further her education. At this time she realized that her kind,
nurturing, patient persona would serve her well as a nurse. Alice became a
licensed practical nurse (LPN) and started her nursing career at Grady Memo-
rial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Alice moved to New York in the late 1960’s
and settled in Jamaica, Queens before moving to Amityville, Long Island.

Upon relocating to Amityville, Alice joined Bethel AME Copaigue, which was
located on Albany Avenue at that time. Alice was dedicated in her service to
the Lord. She served faithfully as apart of the Sunday School, Adult Bible
Study and as a Stewardess with Board #1. She loved to worship and she loved
the word of God. She also faithfully attended Senior Bible Study on Wednes-
days, 8:30 a.m. Prayer on Saturday and 8:00 a.m. Prayer on Sunday. Alice
believed in the power of prayer. In any circumstance or situation her response
was to “Pray about it”. She was instrumental in leading many people to Christ,
most particularly her husband and children.

In 1978 Alice married Matthew Milton. Three children were born of this union,
Mikell, Matthias and Mickei.

Alice also affectionately known as “bug” “queenie” or “hun”, depending on
who was speaking to her. She possessed many attributes. Alice was strong. She
was patient. She was insightful. She was dedicated to her family. She helped
others in any way she could. She would give her last to her kids with no
hesitation. She was extremely supportive and committed to being an excellent
wife. She was a fighter. She was a protector. In her spare time Alice enjoyed
many things. A few things including watching her favorite TV shows such as
Walker Texas Ranger, In The Heat Of The Night and the Andy Griffith Show.
She really enjoyed having a short stack from IHOP and she loved the fried
greens from TGIF. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her husband and
children.

Alice Milton lived an exemplary life and she will be sorely missed. She will
forever be in the hearts of her husband, her three children, her two brothers,
Charlie Martin, Jr. and Roscoe Martin; her one sister, Clara Daniels; and a host
of relatives, in-laws, friends and church family.
