Mortena Bishop

Obituary

Mortena Bishop was born in Barbados on October 2, 1931. Her proud parents were Arron Belgrave and Rosetta Evelyn. Mortena was one of eight siblings and immigrated to New York in 1968, residing in Long Island.

She found early employment with the Seigal family and continued working with them until retirement. During that period, Mortena obtained her GED.

In the 1970s, Mortena married Leon Bishop. For many years she served as a faithful member of the Church of the Advent, where she was loved by all.

A kindhearted and loving person, Mortena was also very helpful and understanding with an encouraging spirit. However, even though quiet at times, she could also be quite stern.

Being family oriented, Mortena loved family outings and did a great deal of traveling on cruises. Her favorite destination was Hawaii.

Mortena will surely be missed and leaves to passing, her daughter Brenda, husband Leon, many nieces, nephews, cousins, God-children and a host of relatives and friends.
