Obituary
James David Jones, Sr. was born on Monday, December 24, 1973 (Christmas Eve) in Brunswick Hospital, Amityville, New York to Leon and Mary Jones. He departed this life on Sunday, October 20, 2019. James was the fifth of six children and was affectionately known as “Peenie”. James was preceded in death by his father Leon Jones, Jr. and his sister JoAnn Grant.
James was christened at Ephesus Church, Pastor, Bishop Robert L. Williams in 1974. Trustee John and Sister Juanita Pope asked permission to be his Godparents before he was born. It didn’t matter to them whether or not he was a boy or girl. It was predestined.
James attended Sunday School regularly at the Ephesus Church and was also a member of the Children of God Choir. He loved to sing but when t came to marching, his tempo as so off beat that he had to take a seat on the pew until the march was over!
James attended both Amityville and Copiague School Districts and obtained his GED. He attended EOC and graduated with a CAN License from the State of New York. James also worked at the Metro “ Pink” Deli with Harry and Susie. James was employed by the Brunswick Hospital Center as well. James attended OPP and Prose and was also affiliated with Act and F.R.E.E.
James was very family oriented and was a people person. He loved his family and was good natured. He was known for his infectious smile and good sense of humor. James was also very generous, if he could help you, he would.
James is survived by his five children, two granddaughters, his mother Mary and grandmother, one sister, three brothers, his nieces, nephews, Godsisters and a host of family and friends.
