Obituary
Hazel O. Duncan, 65, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 23, at her West Babylon home with family by her side.
Hazel was born in Linden, Guyana on November 27, 1953 to Harold F. and Olinda Kersellius. She was the fourth of thirteen children and the eldest daughter. In her elementary years, she attended Saint Aiden’s Anglican School in Wismar, Guyana, South America. She moved on to attend Hooper High School where she met her high school sweetheart, Lethem. They later married on September 5, 1970.
She then moved to the United States in 1978, obtained her Associates in Science Degree from Kean College and her Nursing LPN License from Trinitas in New Jersey.
She loved music, dancing , and dearly loved her family. She loved the outdoors, the ocean, and gardening. She had a bold and adventurous spirit – she loved to drive fast, much like her father. She was an avid supporter of education – a focus shared with her husband. She was passionate about medicine and caring for those in need, in whatever manner she could.
She is survived by her husband Lethem, her four sons, two daughters-in-law, four grandchildren, nine of her siblings and a host of nieces, nephews and godchildren.
