Centenia Beard was born in Gadsden Alabama November 19th, 1951 to the proud parents of
Mary Helon and Otha James Beard who are both deceased. She was the second eldest child of
five, pre-deceased was her older brother Otha Leo Beard Jr. Tina, as we all called her, attended
and graduated from James L. Cain grade school in Gadsden, Alabama before her family
relocated to Wyandanch, New York where they would make this their permanent home.
Tina attended Wyandanch Memorial High School graduating in 1971 with High Honors. Tina
a.k.a “Truck” was very athletic enjoying sports such as softball and running track however
Bowling was her passion, going on to win an abundance of Trophies in all sports. There wasn’t
to many things that Tina could not accomplish when she set her mind to it.
Tina went on to Suffolk Community College obtaining a degree in Business Management, she
landed her first job at Lambda Electronics in Melville NY and continued on for 12 years
becoming a Production Supervisor. While working she decided to volunteer and became a Fire
Brigade Member to help Suffolk County Fire Academy. As time passed Tina left Lambda and
joined with Eaton Corporation of AIL division being a Supervisor for the next 7 years until their
closing. Tina was always reading, listening and seeking more knowledge. There wasn’t a game
of scrabble she did not win, nor a puzzle she could not solve. Tina was smart, fierce, with
impeccable poise.
Tina had a heart full of gold and was such a people person. If you knew Tina you would know
the admiration and love she had for her best friend Belinda Mims who she called her ride or die.
Tina’s love for helping others lead her to the Town of Babylon Wyandanch Senior Citizen
Nutrition Center becoming the Activity Director. Tina love working at the Center as she was
able to bring smiles and enjoy laughs with her staff and senior citizens. During this time, she
met her husband Harry G. Hendricks. They wed on Dec 8, 1994 and resided in Amityville NY.
Tina enjoyed traveling “running from the cold and snow”. Tina loved going to events being
surrounded by family and friends. Harry called her his partner and best friend for the last 25
years.
Tina from birth, was raised in the church attending Revelation Church of God and Christ since
their origination under Bishop John Bryant. When Tina entered into adulthood, she re-gave her
life to Christ and was a faithful member at Revelation. She began teaching Bible Study and
Sunday School. Later becoming a member on the board of Trustees. After studying under Mt.
Carmel Tina became ordained as Elder Centenia Beard-Hendricks. Her love for God was
steadfast and she could teach and preach the Word of God
.
Tina, was never judgmental towards others, she would love you but had no problem giving it to
you straight with the love of God on her heart. She was real and she will truly be missed by all.

“I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness I
can show to any fellow human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it. For I shall never pass this way again”
