Sylvia P. Tinsley was born on July 9, 1953, to the late Lottie Mae Major and Roy Tinsley in Jamaica Queens, NY. She departed this life on Monday, April 15, 2024. Sylvia grew up with five siblings. Music has always been her passion. During childhood her friends and siblings would put on talent shows. She was part of a family band with her siblings called “Brown Sugar Incorporated”. As she got older she played with other bands. One of the popular bands she played with was a funk band called “Man Child”. She also loved jamming with her friends in a band called “Wild Child”.
She had no children of her own, but her godchildren were her children. She loved being around her godchildren, nieces, nephews and having dance parties and singing karaoke. Chilling with friends and going dancing at Island Soul and Cafe Oasis was one of her daily activities that made her happy.
Sylvia P. Tinsley was cherished by many and leaves behind 2 surviving siblings, Irwin and Dierdre Tinsley, her beloved godchildren, Savanahstay (Shuga), Aaliylastar (Lala), Emmery’Prince (Emmery), Jayar (Juju), Winston (Pa) Rose. Nieces, nephews, Great nieces and nephews and tons of friends that were her family. She went out the way she always wanted, partying it up and living her life.
